Some people have been asking me how I overlay my music in my ttr3 vids and how I record videos of me playing.  So heres a simple guide on how I do them for others who are having trouble recording videos for the first time.  This method may vary depending on what cam or cable youre using.  So here goes.

Recording accessories

  • Logitech quickcam for notebooks  Logitech quickcam
  • Earphones without mic  earphones without mic
  • 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable  audio cable

Recording Setup

  1. Lighting. Daytime is the best time for me to record fc vids because the light in my room has a nice natural brightness for my cam, unless its gloomy when it rains, I use a non-direct lamp.
  2. Plug it! I plug in my logitech quickcam onto my laptop’s USB port, my earphones on the headphone jack and my audio connector to the microphone jack, plug inwhile the other end of my audio connector is plugged in my iphone’s earphone jack.
  3. Configure. I open my laptop’s control panel>Sound and set laptop speakers to default.  sound panel Logitech quickcam has its own software that installs after you first plug it.  Pressing ‘Change Settings’ let me configure my video and audio output quality.  The screenshots show what I use:  cam settings audio settings advanced settings And lastly, I do one more check on the microphone tab of my Realtek HD Audio Manager and make sure the default format is 16 Bits 96000 Hz (Studio Quality) realtek audio settings.
  4. Record. I can now do a test recording, but first I needed to adjust my iPhone’s brightness under Settings so the light wont clash too much with the cam.  Then its time to record.
  5. Upload. Once I finish with the recording, I hover over the last thumbnail of my video to get the filename and locate it.  And to youtube it goes :)
  6. And as a result, I give you this:

So thats how I make vids.  I hope this simple guide helps you newbies out there make their first TTR3 FC vids so you can show to the world your L33T fc-ing skillz :D
