Comex recently updated his twitter account that a jailbreak for iphone 4 and 3GS with the new bootroom will be released very soon before the 4.0.1 firmware release. Comex is the developer behind Spirit Untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone and iPod on iOS 3.1.3, and now that 4.0.1 is out, this new tool will jailbreak both 4.0 and 4.0.1 in the same easy way as Spirit.Saving iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1 SHSH blobs
For those who have updated to 4.0, its not necessary to upgrade to 4.0.1 if you want to use this jailbreak. Comex mentioned that it will work fine for both. However if you need to downgrade when 4.1 is released, it would be a good thing to save your shsh blob to avoid Apple’s annoying new restrictions.
Here’s how:
- Download Tinyumbrella version 4.01.03 from The Firmware Umbrella website.
- Plug your phone in and launch tinyumbrella.
- If your device is on iOS 4.0 Click ‘Save my SHSH’ and wait for tinyumbrella to cache the shsh files.
- If you are not on iOS 4.0 then check ‘Advanced Options’ and then next to ‘Device/Version’ change that to 4.0 and click ‘Save my SHSH’ and wait for tinyumbrella to cache the shsh files.
And its done! An .shsh file will be saved on your hard drive and it automatically sends a request to be saved in Cydia. Now that we have the shsh blobs saved, were ready for the coming jailbreak that comex will release. You can follow comex on twitter for further updates.

That’s great news. I’m really glad that I found you and your blog…I can’t wait to jailbreak ios4 ,although I don’t lie this firmware it’s very Sle and the apps crashes frequently…I almost regret updating my iPhone to it.

I noticed they added some shadow effect behind each icon, and also the text. Graphic-wise it looks better. I hope it doesnt get slower though when the jailbreak is out.
