I remembered writing my first graphic novel 3 years ago. I thought it would be cool to put it up here. I am very much a novice in writing as its not my first language, but the influence of watching a lot of modern fantasy movies led me into making something as unexpected from as a graphic novel.
Writing a graphic novel based on fractal art
Whenever I make cool abstracts with Ultra Fractal, I always think up a story that goes behind it so I can have some direction while creating my pieces. This is what I did to a few of my fractals, until I have enough collected for one long graphic novel. It is still unfinished but I love sharing some of them now so you can enjoy, bash on it, whatever lol. I did enjoy making these though. I think I watched way too much Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings back then :)
So here it is. Have a good read and welcome to my mind.
First Trilogy Chapter 1: The Circle of Trust graphic novel

n the beginning of time, a magical orb came down from the heavens and plunged deep into the earth where it remained hidden and unknown for thousands of years. No one saw it. No one knew of it. It only laid at rest waiting to be found…
It waited… and waited some more…
Until one day, young innocent souls got lost and decided to rest for the night inside a deep cave. Restless and carefree as they are, they wandered farther, until they witnessed a faint light reflecting inside the cave… they stepped closer and saw a beatfiul orb surrounded by a soft emanating light floating on a lake. They were fascinated, rather than afraid, and it made the orb feel the same fascination for the children. Seeing this strange and wonderful connection, the orb slowly revealed itself with rays of light calling them to come closer.
And in a kind, calm female voice,
the orb spoke.
“My little ones… I was brought into your world and have remained hidden for many years. My mission in this world is something I must uncover. It is of great need that I am protected until I fulfill my destiny…
…and yours.”
Child-like curiosity brought them excitement, but some of them wanted to go back thinking that this will only bring chaos.
“You have been chosen… believe in yourself and do not be afraid…”
They all agreed and stayed close together.
As the orb slowly emerged, the children felt a great force come through them.
And the orb spoke again…
“I have travelled many worlds, but my power remains unknown… I wish nothing but a world with peace and happiness.. so it is my duty to make a world a beautiful place for everyone…
A place where the only true power is love.
But if I fall into the wrong hands, it will reflect his power. Do not let me fall in their hands because that power will destroy your world.”
From the light of the orb the children has been endowed with, the fear is now lost.
“The long wait is over. It is of great joy that you finally came…”
And the orb smiled.
“Welcome to The Circle of Trust.”

What a nice setup. I like the idea of using fractal art for fantasy stories. Being abstract, it doesn’t intrude on the imagination.

Wow – I wish I could be half as creative. I think I was had at the point where you were making up stories to go along with the fractal art. I know I’d be stuck muttering curse words at the computer, not thinking up a whole imaginary world with a coherent narrative.

You can try seeing some movies similar to Harry Potter or maybe Tim Burton movies… his fantasy stories are always twisted and that style can be very entertaining to watch or read.

This is pretty good. I’ve always wanted to get into fictional writing like this but never felt I was a good enough writer. Maybe you can be my inspiration :-)

Why thank you, Wayne… I think I worked on this design too long to come up with a story like this one lol
I guess its all in the mood that this image brought me. I started with a blank canvass and end up with a nice shape or form that reminds me of something, then this story came up like a spark and I thought I wrote it down. Ideas like that shouldnt be ignored :)
